ALICE’S MISADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND
ALICE’S MISADVENTURES IN WONDERLAND was my “trial-by-fire” initiation into independent film, and a surreal experience… both good and bad. First, it was really hard. Any movie is hard to make, but this one was particularly ambitious. Probably too ambitious. But somehow, we pulled it off. And only because of the blood, sweat, and tears of sooooo many people who came out to work, help, donate time and money, or just be a part of the process. It was truly a labor of love.
In the end, the film premiered at the Alabama Theater as part of the Sidewalk Film Festival in Birmingham, Alabama (where the film was shot) to an audience of over 1500 people. It was an incredible night. The film went on to win BEST FEATURE FILM (as well as multiple ACE AWARDS for Cinematography, Visual Effects, and Ensemble Cast.) *There are copies of the movie floating around out there on DVD, but they are hard to find.

“In ALICE, Robert Rugan is treading on sacred ground: what could he possibly do with a story that is already so close to our hearts? The answer: He makes it even closer. ALICE is a daring feat of a seriously whimsical imagination.” - Daniel Wallace, author of BIG FISH.
“For me, I see a budding Tim Burton. Nobody else could have directed this movie. He has a distinct vision. ALICE is a create tour de force, featuring inventive filmmaking, Almodovar-esque production design. A highly marketable piece that should jumpstart the careers of many of the actors and filmmakers.” - Gil Holland, Producer of HURRICANE STREETS
